Participate in Our Programs

The Fort Collins International Center is always excited to have new participants in any of our programs. Check out all our programs and see which program(s) will be the best fit for you to learn more about the world around you. How do you that?  Just show up!

FCIC Programs and Activities:

FRIDAY AFTERNOON CLUB:

Meet new friends every last Friday of the month at the International House (1400 W. Elizabeth). You do not have to live in the International House to attend.

OUTDOOR PROGRAM:

Explore beautiful Colorado and connect with your new home in a fun and active way. The FCIC organizes outdoor activities each month for all interested students and community members. Outdoor activities aim to provide an active and fun environment for students and community members to enjoy the beauty of Colorado and surrounding states on occasion together. Activities vary from hiking and skiing to snowshoeing and a rodeo trip.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S CLUB:

This weekly social gathering is a great way for international women to build community. On Friday mornings, the Women’s Club spends time getting to know each other and discusses a different topic each meeting. Kids are welcome!

INTERNATIONAL FRIENDS PROGRAM:

Would you like to build some relationships off campus and get more invested in the Fort Collins community and American culture? Then we encourage you to sign up for this program, which pairs you with a Fort Collins family or individual who is committed to sharing their lives with you. You can expect to get together with your International Friend for activities or holidays at least once a month.

GLOBAL AMBASSADORS STUDENT PROGRAM (GASP):

Global Ambassadors are CSU International Students who share their culture with classrooms and community groups. You will also enhance your resume, practice your presentation skills, meet new people, and make new friends. Everyone is welcome to become a speaker!

INTERNATIONAL NIGHT AT THE LIBRARY:

Twice a month, students and community members share their experiences of other countries or their home country. Every 2nd Tuesday, the public is invited to attend the Old Town Library in the large community room at 7 p.m. Every 4th Thursday, the same presenters speak again at the Harmony Library on the Front Range Community College Campus at 7 p.m. Volunteer today if you would like to share your country with the local community! Contact Mark Oberschmidt at obermurray@comcast.net.

COMMUNITY WELCOME DINNERS:

The Fort Collins International Center works with the Office of International Programs at CSU to prepare a night for international students to experience a home-cooked meal in an American home at a Community Welcome Dinner. Community Welcome Dinners occur at the beginning of every semester the week of orientation.

WELCOME AND BABY SUPPORT:

Welcome our newcomers and pregnant moms who need assistance getting settled and preparing for their new life in Fort Collins. Assist in finding childcare, food, and transportation. The most common requests are for household items, baby clothing, diapers, and baby equipment.

HOMESTAY:

Volunteer HomeStay hosts help the new international students and scholars transition into the community by providing temporary housing (3-5 nights), meals, valuable local information about the Fort Collins area, and transportation to and from the CSU campus.

CONVERSATIONAL ENGLISH CLASSES:

Practice your English and make new friends at these free drop-in classes! Join us every Monday at Aggie Village from 9:30-11 a.m., and every Thursday at University Village from 9:30-11 a.m. These classes offer language help for all levels and offer insight into American customs and build community with others.
