“When I was studying abroad in Spain for the fall semester, I took a trip to Valencia, Spain. Four of us foreign students hopped on a three hour bus ride from Murcia, Spain up the Mediterranean coast to Valencia. We only had a couple of days and tried to cram as much as we could in the time we had. We found a map as soon as we arrived and set out on foot towards the city center (we didn't want to spend extra money on the metro, we were still broke college students!).

We visited the beautiful city cathedral and hit up a local “heladeria”, or ice cream store, before heading out on the town for a fun evening. We explored the nightlife and stumbled upon a fun unique bar where you could set your drink down on top of a giant bar-length aquarium. We also enjoyed the local favorite drink, Agua de Valencia, made with fresh squeezed Valencia oranges, local champagne, and other spirits.

The next day we rented a goofy 4 person pedal powered buggy and rode through the old riverbed turned into park. We visited the newest and neatest attraction in Valencia: La Ciudad de las Ciencias. This "city of the sciences" is a "village" of amazing museums, an opera hall, and theater, all designed in the most contemporary architecture that resembled something you would see from outer space. We also explored the enormous world-class aquarium next to the museums and got the chance to watch one of their awesome dolphin shows.

We ended our final day at a tasty restaurant, treating ourselves to an amazing Spanish Paella Valenciana, a very well known traditional Spanish rice dish made specific to the region. It was the most unforgettable experience, and I can't wait for the day I will get to visit again!”
